Mountain Lion Hunting in New Mexico

Target Outfitting offers the age old experience of man and hound vs. the cunning of North America’s greatest predator, the mountain lion. We prefer to hunt mountain lions after a passing snow storm. The fresh snow allows us the greatest possible opportunity to provide our clients a successful hunt; however, if we don’t get snow our dogs can still trail on dry ground. Target Outfitting offers a “Stand-by Hunt”; once we receive the booking fee, our client’s name and phone number are added to our stand-by list. When we see a snow storm on the horizon, we begin calling from the list until a client accepts the hunt. It is critical that the client arrive within twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) hours of accepting the hunt to begin hunting. If a client is called and unable to hunt, then he or she will not lose their position on the list. All mountain lion /cougar hunts are restricted to a 1x1 client to guide ratio.

License Information: License must be purchased five (5) days prior to the start of the hunt.  The client must make arrangements with a New Mexico Game & Fish representative within five (5) days of taking a mountain lion/cougar to schedule tagging of the skull and hide.
